We aspire to educate, advocate, influence and create food system change through collaborative networking in environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable ways.
There are many innovative efforts made to strengthen our local food systems, many of which are successful. To AFS, innovation is not always about new ideas. We know that there are duplicative efforts and underutilized resources and concepts that already exists. The majority of our teams time is spent communicating with national partners, sitting on advisory boards and technical working committees, and of course, boots on the ground talking to farmers and visiting food hubs and food makers to understand their barriers and listening to their ideas.
We believe that collaboration and commitment of our team is the result of our proven success. We embrace the successes, take note of the failures, and pave the path for moving forward. We refer to this as our Knowledge Transfer Program.
